As you gain more affection with a companion, quests will become available from that companion while in your ship or a cantina. Affection literally translates to how much that specific companion likes or dislikes you. You can view the affection bars for all other companions via the Crew window (N). Each companion also has a unique bonus to certain crew skills, so utilizing a companion who has a bonus in your selecting crew skill can benefit you, more information on specific companions can be found below.Įach of your companions will have an affection bar which is accessed for your current, active, companion via the Character screen (C) on the Companion tab. Companions will also be the ones to do your gathering and crafting, so they’re obviously a very important aspect of the game. The order in which you receive each companion type is different per class. Each class will have a mix of companions, each of which is unique in their own way, though there will always be at least one tank, on healer, and one damage companion for each class. They will assist you in combat by filling one of three major roles healer, damage, or tank. You may only have 1 companion active at a time, and can easily switch out that companion while not in combat. You will receive your first companion around level 8, your ship droid around 16 once you’ve acquired your ship, and 4 other companions throughout your journeys. Each class has their own unique “set” of companions that are closely tied to your main class story line.

They are completely AI controlled, with the ability for the player to toggle their abilities on and off at will. Companions are your sidekicks/crew/squad/etc.
